Holiday dispatch - 2021
This year was a busy one compared to last year! After we got home from my cousin’s wedding in Florida, we took covid tests (both negative) and then spent the weekend at Chris’s brother’s. It was so fun to see our niece and puppy nephew and we had the full holiday experience with lots of food, cookie decorating, and gift opening. We took Ivy (our guinea pig) with us and she hunkered down in her travel house upstairs. On Sunday, Chris headed back home with Ivy and then I drove to my parents house.
My parents have just inherited these HUGE portraits of our ancestors on the Dunscombe side and they are newly hung in the dining room. They set quite the ambiance, staring down at the table as we eat. But given that our house is already steeped in family history around every turn, it’s pretty par for the course!
Here are some photos from the trip, including some of my favorite ornaments and decorations, and one of the decked out neighbor houses.
Also this year I made a ton of poppyseed and nut rolls, including regular size and some cute minis. These are a Ukrainian dessert and the recipe comes from my mom. I could eat these all day; they’re one of my favorite foods of all time.
