Honeymoon at Wings Neck Lighthouse
In November, Chris and I had our honeymoon at Wings Neck Lighthouse on Cape Cod. Decommissioned at the end of WWII, it is still owned by the descendants of one of the former lighthouse keepers and they offer short-term rentals of the property.
Emily & Derek portrait
This portrait is based on Emily and Derek’s engagement photos and was a gift for their wedding. I really loved working on all of the beads and the embroidery on Emily’s vyshyvanka. Plus, it’s always so nice to painting people you know…
New zoom lens
Chris gave me my Christmas gift early – a new zoom lens! My old one broke five years ago when I dropped it on a metal-bottomed boat, and I got a new one that is good for portraiture, but not quite for its zoom feature…
Katie and Greg get married! (again!)
This past weekend we attended a wedding in Montague, MA, which we visited back in 2018 to check out The Montague Bookmill. Katie and Greg eloped during September 2020 on their originally scheduled wedding date, and postponed their family & friends wedding until things got a little safer with covid…
Teddy James
Welcome Theodore James Dunscombe! My nephew was born on September 9, 2021 (just a day shy of Grandpa Andy's 95th birthday) at 11:28am, 7 pounds 10 ounces and 19 inches…
Uncle Pat & Aunt Bobbie / Great Grand-Aunt Margaret
This weekend my family traveled to lower NY to pay our respects to my Uncle Patrick…
Smoggy sunset
There are over a thousand forest fires currently burning in the US. Even on this farthest-East point in the country, as the winds have shifted we are seeing smog that obscures the sun and encases everything in an eery pink/orange cast. You can see in the photo of the trees on the other side of the pond that it looks like there is fog, but it's all smog.
Engagement Photoshoot
My grandfathers – both of whom grew up during the Great Depression – never paid for services they could do themselves for free (for better or worse). That continues to be a big theme in the Misura/Dunscombe family…
Summer Trip to New York State
Last week we visited both my parents and got to see my Aunt Mary who was visiting from Florida. It was a pretty busy visit. Chris drove to his brother's house in lower NY Thursday night, while I went further west to my parents' house. Chris was partially returning his brother's car – which had ended up with us in a roundabout way – but more importantly meeting our new niece!
Tree swallows and sunsets
For the last few months, we've noticed a flock of birds that have congregated on the surface of the pond near our house, swooping and diving on the hunt for bugs swarming the surface of the water. This is always at dusk, so we've only ever been able to see their silhouettes…
Vaccinated
Chris and I are both fully vaccinated! Poor Chris got his second dose the day before his birthday and spent his birthday with a 100-degree fever. Our vaccines were staggered by about 2.5 weeks, with Chris fully vaccinated before me…
February Snow
More snow! Last weekend I fashioned some weatherproofing for my camera and walked over to Fulton’s Pond to document. The day before we saw someone ice skating on the pond…
