Katie and Greg get married! (again!)
This past weekend we attended a wedding in Montague, MA, which we visited back in 2018 to check out The Montague Bookmill. Katie and Greg eloped during September 2020 on their originally scheduled wedding date, and postponed their family & friends wedding until things got a little safer with covid…

DIY Save the Dates
We chose our wedding venue and date earlier this month and we are super stoked about it! I'm still trying to DIY and save money as much as possible since the wedding industry is bonkers (I already bought a secondhand dress from Poshmark and gave my hair its first trim since I did my last pixie cut pre-pandemic), and stationary was next up on the list. I had originally used Canva to design a save-the-date using one of the photos we took this past summer, but then decided something more handmade would feel more authentic…

Multipurpose desk
School started just about a month ago and has definitely been keeping me busy! I restructured my schedule a little bit so that I get some exercise and work on the comic first thing in the morning, and then work on school in the afternoon and try to break by the evening…

Teddy James
Welcome Theodore James Dunscombe! My nephew was born on September 9, 2021 (just a day shy of Grandpa Andy's 95th birthday) at 11:28am, 7 pounds 10 ounces and 19 inches…

Uncle Pat & Aunt Bobbie / Great Grand-Aunt Margaret
This weekend my family traveled to lower NY to pay our respects to my Uncle Patrick…

Transition
My last day of work was on the 16th, and I just had my first week completely left to my own devices! I'm trying to get a lot of the important stuff out of the way first…

Smoggy sunset
There are over a thousand forest fires currently burning in the US. Even on this farthest-East point in the country, as the winds have shifted we are seeing smog that obscures the sun and encases everything in an eery pink/orange cast. You can see in the photo of the trees on the other side of the pond that it looks like there is fog, but it's all smog.

Engagement Photoshoot
My grandfathers – both of whom grew up during the Great Depression – never paid for services they could do themselves for free (for better or worse). That continues to be a big theme in the Misura/Dunscombe family…

Career changes
Aside from working on the script, I haven't worked on the comic in two months. That said, this has been for fairly productive reasons that I hope will result in more time to work on the comic long term. In May I shared with my employer that I planned to leave my position mid-July. I gave eight weeks of notice as I am not immediately moving onto something with urgency.

Summer Trip to New York State
Last week we visited both my parents and got to see my Aunt Mary who was visiting from Florida. It was a pretty busy visit. Chris drove to his brother's house in lower NY Thursday night, while I went further west to my parents' house. Chris was partially returning his brother's car – which had ended up with us in a roundabout way – but more importantly meeting our new niece!

Tree swallows and sunsets
For the last few months, we've noticed a flock of birds that have congregated on the surface of the pond near our house, swooping and diving on the hunt for bugs swarming the surface of the water. This is always at dusk, so we've only ever been able to see their silhouettes…

Vaccinated
Chris and I are both fully vaccinated! Poor Chris got his second dose the day before his birthday and spent his birthday with a 100-degree fever. Our vaccines were staggered by about 2.5 weeks, with Chris fully vaccinated before me…

Spring 2021
As far as art-related content goes, I haven't been able to work on the comic in the last month, but this is where I paused last. Things are still extremely busy with my job and the mornings, evenings, and weekends have become precious time to be away from a desk and keep myself centered, which means less energy for drawing…

Sample chapter complete
It's actually been complete for several weeks, but I've been busy rescanning, making edits, and putting together the full chapter on an external site. I started using Squarespace to host that, since I've been using Weebly for my portfolio page since 2009 and just don't think they are keeping up with the times…

February Snow
More snow! Last weekend I fashioned some weatherproofing for my camera and walked over to Fulton’s Pond to document. The day before we saw someone ice skating on the pond…

What I've been listening to
The more rigorous drawing schedule over the last few months has been a good way to figure out what I feel most productive listening to at different times of day/during working sessions of different lengths…

Update on the comic: 23 new pages
During my 2-week retreat from work over the holidays, I didn't post any updates on the comic because I was too busy working on it!

Holiday Dispatch
We had such a nice quiet Christmas this year, staying in our cozy apartment. It was fun to decorate a new space after having decorated the same living room for 8 straight years. That room had a lot of very dark stained walnut woodwork, and so with decorations, it quickly became a lot to take in…

Thanksgiving
We went to Endicott for Thanksgiving, though we took every precaution possible. We got PCR testing done ahead of time through my work and got our results ~30 hours later. We wore masks when we first arrived and the results hadn't come in yet…

Biden Harris
Mansfield may be a little smaller than the city, but we still had a nice turnout for an impromptu celebration in the town square! What a relief…
